Last night’s concert at the Newpark Stage was one of the best shows we’ve had this season. Tyler Matthew Smith and his band of skilled musicians put on the perfect show for the Newpark venue. Newpark, being a homey, out-door venue, perfect for picnics and playtime brings out a more whimsical side of music than other venues in the area. Tyler Matthew Smith played great original tracks with sounds from electric guitars, saxophones, flutes, and more unique instruments.

The band and the crowd were truly connected; in fact, I haven’t seen crowd engagement like this so far in this years concert season. From the enthusiastic applause to the encore performance, the entire night just plain worked.

If you haven’t been to Newpark yet this year make sure not to miss another night. Families come and spread blankets, enjoy food and drinks, and socialize to the sound of Mountain Town Music performers. Local businesses set up vendor stands, a favorite being Maxwell’s pizza, and the whole park transforms into a great community center for the show.
